What To Expect

YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your first appointment will include a thorough consultation, review of medical history, tongue & pulse diagnosis and an initial acupuncture treatment. If relevant, we may review recent lab work and include Eastern or Western physical exams. You can read more about the modalities that may be included as part of your treatment on our Services Page.

Our treatments aim to facilitate deep relaxation and rejuvenation. We value creating a peaceful and serene environment in which you can fully reap the benefits of your acupuncture treatment.

After your first session, we’ll discuss the number and frequency of treatments in which we expect to see results. The benefits of acupuncture are progressive, and the recommended number of treatments depends on a variety of factors, most notably if the condition is acute or chronic. Additionally, we’ll provide any relevant lifestyle, herbal, dietary and/or supplement recommendations.

BEFORE TREATMENT

Don’t brush your tongue. As funny as it sounds, try to avoid vigorously brushing your tongue the day of your acupuncture treatment. The natural coating on the surface of your tongue gives us a lens into your microbiome.

Have a small meal. Acupuncture is best received when you’ve eaten within the last hour or so prior to treatment. We recommend having a light snack prior to treatment and arriving hydrated.

Wear loose clothing. The most commonly used acupuncture points are located from your knees and elbows down, and on the back and belly. Wearing loose-fitting clothing makes these areas easily accessible and keeps you comfortable as you rest during your treatment.
